WORKSHOP FEEDBACK

Comments from staff about the drama workshop -Emotional Roller Coaster

Over the past several weeks with the drama group I have seen the young people grow in confidence. Coming to drama seems to give them a 'release'. They all have a lot of energy and emotions and the drama seems to have given them something to focus on.The young people have enjoyed working together as a team and they have got to know each other as friends. For them all to be contributing to the final play gives them something as a team to work towards. Also, it has worked far all the age ranges of the groups as the subject of 'emotions' is inclusive to all. Even the young people who may be a little shyer than others have got fully involved and enjoyed it.

I think the 'Emotional Roller Coaster' drama group has been really good for the young people because it has enhanced their self worth by taking part as a team member. I have seen their confidence grow each week and they have developed new friendships and relationships. To see how much they have enjoyed themselves has been fantastic.

I understand your Company was responsible for the Panto Workshop at the Plowright Theatre last Sunday. My child and friend attended and really enjoyed the day I was wondering if you have any plans to return in the near future. It is always nice to get the children involved in things other than TV and video games and despite some initial reluctance they really enjoyed the whole day. The end of day performance really showed what hard work you must have all put in, it was a real credit to you and the children. I spoke to other parents on the evening and all agreed that we don't get enough of this sort of thing in Scunthorpe and we would be more than happy to pay a small fee for a return visit.

Dear Darren,

I write to thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm during our recent ‘Aladdin’ project.  The event was a unique opportunity for the pupils of our school, since their Islamic cultural background does not provide many theatrical and artistic endeavours for them.  Therefore, this was the first live production that some students have experienced, as an audience and especially as part of the crew.  This did not detract, however, from the amazing talent that you managed to coax from them with your inspirational guidance and direction. Although I knew that Grange Technology College would benefit from your creative expertise, I couldn’t believe how you motivated them to challenge their own abilities and achieve such a fantastic performance within the few allocated workshops.  I think they surprised even themselves with their accomplishments! Throughout the project, the improvement in the pupil’s confidence was obvious, as well as their enjoyment of the rehearsals, songs and dances.  Despite the large cohort of participants, the variety of activities helped to engage, and furthermore, develop each individuals’ interests, so that they all had the chance to reach their potential! This involvement has served to continue their interest in drama and provided us with a reliable cast for our next production in Summer.  Nevertheless, we all - staff and students alike - look forward to arranging the same project for next year.  All the crew members of Aladdin have been asking when you will be returning to ‘Grange’ and I have received many compliments from staff regarding the necessity of your pantomimes in our School! Until next time, thanks again,  Yours sincerely,  SK  Lindenx Sarah Linden
